Tiny Table Tours was founded by a well-known local food journalist, and those relationships are at the core of their tours. They share stories gathered from one-on-one interviews with business owners and chefs that will give you a behind-the-scenes, personal view of South Philadelphia. Their tour guides are deeply immersed in the Philly food and dining scene, giving you a deeply personal experience. At the end of the tour, they'll also share their cheat sheet: a list of recommendations for bars, restaurants, and other fun activities in the city. (If you’re visiting Philadelphia and would like to use the cheat sheet to plan your trip, reply to their tour confirmation and ask for the cheat sheet, and we’ll send it over.)
You'll meet at the Southeast corner of Columbus Square Park, a community gathering place in South Philly.
From there, you'll walk to a neighborhood bakery and have a sweet treat. Then make your way to Washington Avenue, talk about cheesesteaks, neighborhood history, and food along the way.
On Washington Avenue, you'll visit a second-generation, family-owned Vietnamese bakery for a banh mi, then head over to a beloved Mexican restaurant where you'll have the chance to sit and relax for a few minutes over tacos and agua Fresca.
The second half of the tour will be spent exploring the Italian Market. Tour guides will share little-known history, offer recommendations, and take you to a new-school Jewish appetizing store and an old-school Italian bakery.
You'll finish with a glass of wine and plenty of time for guides to give you restaurant recommendations.
The cost of your food and drinks is included in the price of your ticket. All you have to do is show up (and tip your guide, if you have fun!)
